First, be clear about your objective. Why are you networking? I asked a client that question recently and the answer was, “Because I don’t know what else to do. ” If your objective is any one of the following:

To get referrals

  • To promote my business
  • To meet other people
  • To sell my product or service
  • To get visibility

then your objective is misplaced. The only purpose of networking is to build relationships. We do that through all theWhy do you network traditional ways of meeting and learning about others, and that’s exactly what we ought to be doing in networking groups.

Your networking objective is to build relationships!
